The projection method is the standard approach for numerically integrating the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation initial-boundary-value problem. Typical boundary conditions specify either the velocity or the gradient velocity on the boundary. Here, we consider the pressure-tangential-velocity boundary condition in which the tangential components of the velocity and the pressure at the boundary are specified. We (1) show how these boundary conditions can be incorporated into the projection method for use with popular CFD codes like Gerris/Basilisk; (2) perform normal mode analysis to show that the boundary conditions are second-order accurate in time for the standard projection method and are first-order for the and projection methods.
